How to Have a Perfect Day In Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh. The Steel City. Home of the Steelers. And so MANY BRIDGES!
Not too long ago, I took my first trip to the city. Although it was a short visit on my way home from being a camp counselor, it was a day well spent taking in beautiful views! I’m ready for another visit already! Want some ideas on how you can spend your day in Pittsburgh? Here are a few suggestions for your next fun and relaxing day in the city!
Brunch at Square Café
First off, you can’t start your day on an empty stomach! After having a place picked in the Strip District, we didn’t plan for long lines. And I mean LONG lines and crowds that filled the entire street! So, our first stop was the Square Café!
A short drive away from the Strip District, Square Café was the perfect brunch spot. Since then, they have re-opened their rooftop deck. It was quite the busy spot, but we enjoyed our brunch accompanied by great weather! Our waitress was awesome and the food, very filling and good!

Afternoon Activities
The Pennsylvanian
After watching the Taylor Lautner movie, Abduction, which is set in Pittsburgh, I really wanted to visit The Pennsylvanian. If you look for it on Google Maps, it’s actually The Pennsylvanian Apartments! It was originally Pittsburgh’s Union Station and is now a Historic Landmark.
It’s a really pretty setting, and I can only imagine what it looks like in the evening! The Pennsylvanian is also a wedding venue so there were tables all set up outside.

Point State Park
Point State Park is located right on the water and gives some great views! The park is at the intersection of 3 rivers: The Allegheny River, The Monongahela River, and The Ohio River. It’s also great to get your steps in for the day. (If you are looking for parking, there is a parking garage not too far away!)
After visiting the Pennsylvanian, we went to Point Park to walk around and checked out The Fort Pitt Museum. The museum is great to learn about Pittsburgh’s history and its role in American history!
Across from the Museum is the Block House, which was built in 1764 and is the oldest building in Pittsburgh. A tour guide inside can answer most questions you may have!
On the way out of Point Park, there is a little snack shop to re-energize and also take some time to people watch. We watched so many dogs walk by!

Monongahela Incline
Onto the next stop: The Monongahela Incline. Just one of two inclines that remain in Pittsburgh, the incline is used daily by residents and visitors. To ride, tickets can be purchased inside and is good for 3 hours. Ticket prices can be viewed on their website. It was really neat seeing the view of the city from inside the car!
At the top of the incline is the Patrick T. Fagan Overlook to give you an amazing view of the city! So worth the Incline ride up. There are also many shops and restaurants across the street if you want to spend a few hours shopping around.

Evening Activities
Dinner and Drinks at Burgatory
After a long day, dinner at Burgatory was so nice to take some time to sit and have a break. The burger and fries were so good and service was great.

West End Overlook Park
One last stop was the West End Overlook to watch the sunset and see the city light up as it got dark! I’m not a city girl and very rarely am I in any city, so seeing the sunset and city lights was a must. I mean look at that view!

Evening Drive Through the City
And to end off the night, a drive through the city with the windows down (if temperature and weather allow it) to see the city lights and less crowded streets up closer. This was a must!
